ALABAMA -- Colbert County Sheriff’s deputies were forced to shoot at a dog following a report of an attack by a pack of canines Thursday.
Just after 7 p.m., deputies were called to Red Rock Road in Tuscumbia, where a man reported he had been attacked by seven of his neighbors’ dogs as he attempted to check the mail. He received between 15-20 wounds during the attack. The man was taken to Keller Hospital, where he was treated and released.
While attempting to find the owner of the pack, one dog charged at deputies. A deputy shot at the dog, which ran away and has not been located at this time.
Investigators spoke to the owner of the dogs, 62-year-old Brenda Lambert. Following further investigation, Lambert was arrested Friday and charged with reckless endangerment.
The District Attorney’s office is working with the health department on an order to quarantine the surviving dogs for rabies checks.
