Women Mauled by Several Dogs on South Side

ILLINOIS -- Two women were injured, one of them critically, when they were mauled by several dogs Friday night in the Calumet Heights neighborhood, officials said.

A woman was walking her dog just before 7 p.m. in the 8700 block of South Cregier Avenue when the two were attacked by at least three other dogs, according to Chicago Police News Affairs Officer O'Brien.


The 64-year-old woman was taken to Stroger Hospital in critical condition where she is scheduled to undergo surgery.

The owner of the three dogs reportedly tried to intervene and was also injured, officials said.

The 23-year-old woman was taken to Trinity Hospital in stable condition, according to Chicago Fire Media.

Police said all three dogs were taken to animal control and the owner was being questioned.

Further details surrounding the incident were not immediately available.
