Two charged in animal cruelty case in Allegany

NEW YORK -- Two Allegany residents have been charged for allegedly letting 14 cows and six goats on their farm on Wing Hollow Road starve to death, authorities announced Wednesday.

Following an investigation by Chautauqua County Humane Society Investigator Rey Muniz Jr., Chris Andera of 3869 Wing Hollow Road was charged April 28 with 14 counts of failure to provide sustenance following the death of 14 cows due to starvation.

Also, Catherine Conhiser Andera was charged with six counts of failure to provide sustenance, food or water to an animal following the death of six goats.

Several dead animals were found following a health check on a warrant March 17, authorities said. All remaining livestock was taken into custody.

The Anderas must appear in Allegany Town Court at a later date.
