Minnesota: Lisa Ann Tucker pleads guilty to beating her dog with a hammer

MINNESOTA -- The 56-year-old Columbia Heights woman was convicted of felony check forgery in 2008. She spent two months in the Ramsey County Correctional Facility before receiving five years probation. Arrests for theft followed in 2012 and 2014.

Then Tucker found herself in trouble in late May.

Early in the morning on May 25, police were called to 46 ½ Avenue Northeast in Columbia Heights.

Inside the home they discovered a dog with a fractured jaw and head and nose contusions. Officers soon learned that Tucker had repeatedly struck her pet with a hammer because it went to the bathroom on a bed.

Authorities also found cocaine and prescription pills in Tucker's purse.

Last Thursday, Tucker pleaded guilty to one count of cruelty to animals and possession of a controlled substance.

She's scheduled to be sentenced August 1.
