ILLINOIS -- A Chicago man was charged with killing a kitten after he was accused of throwing the animal into the air Friday evening in the Chatham neighborhood on the South Side, the Sun-Times is reporting.
Lamar Rogers, 43, of the 6400 block of Vernon Avenue, faces one felony count of aggravated cruelty to animals.
Rogers is accused of picking up the animal in the backyard of an apartment building at 6420 S. Vernon Ave. He then threw the kitten up in the air; it went as high as a third-floor balcony before falling to its death, prosecutors said.
A neighbor saw it happen and called police, prosecutors said.
Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. ordered the man held on $100,000 bond.
