Tennessee: Christopher Finch, 38, charged with shooting and killing dog with shotgun

TENNESSEE -- Memphis police have arrested a man accused of killing a dog earlier this month.

The incident happened on February 4 in the 2600 block of Moss Valley.

The dog’s owner told police he was at home when Christopher Finch came into his house without permission. Finch allegedly asked one of the homeowner’s friends to come outside. And when he did, the homeowner’s dog followed.

At that point, the homeowner said Finch pulled out a sawed-off shotgun, put it in the dog’s mouth and pulled the trigger, according to the affidavit.

The homeowner told police he tried to run towards his dog and the suspect, but at that point Finch pointed the gun at him. The homeowner retreated back into the house, and the dog died of its injuries.

Christopher Finch was identified as the person who shot and killed the dog.

The 38-year-old is charged with aggravated assault and aggravated cruelty to animals. He is being held on a $20,000 bond.

  1. Hi, I would simply like to add that this is not how this incident happened. I did shoot the dog yes. It was not a sawed off shótgun for one. The owner of the dog ordered it to attack me. Originally when I knocked on the door, the dog was in a large kennel or cage inside the residents home. Never did I step foot in the house. I took a plea bargain to get the time rolling verses going to trial. I have regrets doing so every since. It was in self defense. Tennessee does not have a self defense law. I was rather rail roaded being í did not have the money for an attorney or a witness on my side.
