Florida: Someone may be torturing and killing cats in Indiantown neighborhood

FLORIDA -- Martin County authorities are investigating allegations of animal
cruelty after three cats were killed in an Indiantown neighborhood.

A resident in the 14700 block of Southwest 175th Street reported Thursday that, since October, three cats have been killed and three more wounded.

The resident told investigators she found a deceased female cat in January and a deceased, possibly pregnant, cat about three weeks ago.

Both cats had cuts that were believed to caused by a machete, a Martin County Sheriff’s Office incident report said.

The resident said the cats are feral, but she and her family try to take care of
them with food and medical attention. The woman said many of her neighbors don’t like cats, but she could not identify a suspect, the sheriff’s office said.
